Default Tranny failed...shocker

Ssitting at a redlight today when my car dies and i see some smoke from the engine bay. (passenger side) I re-started the car and noticed a loud winning noise when pressing the clutch then alot more smoke and the clutch felt like it wasnt engaging completly. I toed the car home but its too dark now to start a teardown. I had the dealer replace the clutch a few months back for issues. could this be related?

Question; any ideas if im looking at a dead tranny? or is anyone selling a replacement?

Most likely the clutch was done wrong, could be defective throwout bearing. what did the smoke smell like, burnt clutch or oil? Did they replace the rear main seal? Also, check to see if they put fluid back in the tranny.

Wow that baby got hot discolored the metal on the pressure plate and toasted the throw out bearing. Any idea why it happened I'm guessing incorrect install? Glad it wasn't your trans.

I was wondering that. Hoping it was a part failure. I dont think it was installed incorrectly. This week i am cracking the case to investigate the small amount of metal flakes. Anyone know if there is a difference in the tranny forks 01-03 vs 04-05? i cant see how else to damage the bearing.

Don't know too much about the trans, but be sure to take pics. I cracked open one one time and put it back together wrong and it failed miserably. It got me around for bout a month making some awe full racket. I think one of the bearings was crushed idk. but it was not good. Had to swap to a LS trans in my CRX B16 (I kinda like the long gears tho). glad it was the throw out bearing and not the tranny. Good luck.

Were they in the MTF? Usually not a good sign, but can also be due to normal wear-and-tear. Based on the photos of the bearing and pressure plate.. I'm curious to see what you find.
