(96-00 civic hatchback)
what exactly will i need? my friend says i need to change out the whole doors to EX/SI doors and they have to be for the right year for my car which is a 96? (96'-98' or 99'-00')
i just wanted to know exactly what i need from the forum and how much they usually go for the whole setup to do this. thanks in advance HT.

Not sure if there is a difference between 98-99 door designs... But yes, the entire door will have to be replaced with doors that are already power... Ive personally never done it, but you may need to make some cuts in the door jam and gromet it to make room for the harness going from the jam, through the boot, to the door... So you will definately need a chassis harness for the doors...
i had paid my boy to do this p/w conversion on my 96 Dori hatch recently... 1st thing 1st you'll have to kno wires pretty good or kno some1 that specializes in wires to not make this a all day or all wkend event... so i had paid my boy bout $200 yuks to do the swap and he ended up doing it in
3 1/2 - 4hrs of labor... but i had bought whole doors off a 99 ex coupe for about $230 yuks.. and got an center consel arm rest with the deal from a salvage yard.. when you get the doors off a salvage car make sure they cut or clip the wires as far up under the dash as possible.... and make sure you get the p. mirror switch on the dash...any doors from 96-00 ex coupe to hatch models will work... they all line up the same.... he had gut my doors and gut the powered doors and swapped everything over from p. mirrors, locks, windows, regulators, door panels, wires and wiring harnesses.... trust me if you want this and you go thru with this conversion you'll be happy you did it... all n all i spent $430 yuks and got a center consel out of it... let me kno if this helps or if you go theu with the conversion....

don't need the door's you can put all the parts into your existing doors (i have acually done this!!!!) what you need is power window regulator with motor, power door latch assembly, door wire harness, power mirror, power mirror switch (they are differant between heated and non heated, floor harness(coupe),power door cards,pw switch, and a couple of fuses and relays its all plug and play no wireing requierd unless you have a rear wiper . floor harness must be from same gen 96-98 or 99-00 lot of work butt well worth it
oh for sure so you guys all parted your parts from the junkyard? or shops or... i know it's more expensive but i rather buy it from someone/a place that has all of it for sure in one place if you know what i mean.
Just food for thought...
my buddy bought a kit off ebay that basically puts a motor to your manual window handle, but it does so inside the door...so you dont see it.
I think he paid like 60 bucks for it, and its very basic wiring skills needed. Then you buy a plug to mount over the hole left via your manual window ****.
Its 60 bucks, and 2-3 hours of work....nothing special needed, maybe a soldering iron, or a roll of black tape and a wire stripper.

The handle connects to a splined gear... what he is talking about is a motor that goes over the splined gear and rolls it up and you can do away with the handle completely.
found a good deal i believe.. a set(driver and passenger) doors from a 99-00' Em1 blue* has everything except the panel and switches for 125obo..local in my area too sound good?
Dont listen to these SCHMUCKs ^^^up ther, they seem like they gotta bunch of Rice pattys ther driving aroud in....... yeah it sounds like a good deal, but does it have the wires that go thru you're door and under you're dash??? you can always find switches and door panels for cheap... but you need the wires to wire up for all the power windows, locks, and mirrors... thats why i went to a salvage yard that parted out a 99 coupe, they asked what i needed and they pulled everything for me....

If you use the search button and choose this forum under the threads. There are plenty of guides to base what you'll need to part out from a junk yard, radio shack or alternative places. Easiest way to swap manual to auto is going to a junk yard. Pulling the dash off and pull the wiring (connectors at the fuse box) and pulling the entire doors. Good luck! Remember to take lots d pictures and show us the work! I love reading and checking out what others do and how they did it.

Get this found a 97 EX Coupe being parted out a little over 80 miles from me. Offered $50 for everything in that power conversion list except mirrors and they accepted as long as I pull everything. Hell ya!
Now I just have to do some research on pulling. Not sure what any of it looks like or how to get to it. lol. If anyone's got some advice, let me know! haha.
For now I will be reading all the power conversion diy's I can find. Here we go...
