Default Stuck bolt in suspension fork?

Ok...so I am trying to remove the driver side axle...because the boot is split in two. Figure I would change both axles. Got the passenger side with no problem. Moved to driver side...got axles free from the hub and from the tranny. But the bolt holding the suspension to the hub is stuck. The nut is off and the head spins...but will not come out.

What are my options?

I dont want to cut the bolt off because then ill have to remove the arm.

Let me know, Ill listen to all!

Thanks

1988 Honda Accord DX.

Oh, that is it? That looks just like the control arm on my 98 Prelude. I had the same thing happen when I overhauled the suspension last year.

Get a floor jack and place it under the control arm. Jack it up enough to take the weight off. And then Just get a center punch or a old phiilips screw driver and hit the threaded end of the bolt. It should push right out. The key is to get the weight off the bolt so you can slide it out.

Oh, and BTW, if you replace that bushing #12 your suspension will stop squeeking in sub 40 degree weather!

Wow, that makes no sense, you should be able to pound it out. I wonder if the bolt is frozen to the inner metal sleeve of the bushing. That sleeve may have separated from the rubber around it and is spinning with the bolt.

If you can't get it out, you may have to pull out bolt 18 and 19 and remove the sway bar and control rod. Take the suspension arm completely off with the fork attached.

You can buy a ball joint separator cheap or go to advance auto or auto zone and borrow one.

Take the control arm and fork assm to a machine shop and have them press it out. Or put it in a big bench vise and beat it out.

At this point you may have to replace #12 bushing as it will probably be destroyed by this point.

oh, also, I think the CV joint comes apart on the transmission side enough to be able to slide it thru the fork end.

lol yep. already figured that out...but I already have this nut and bolt beat up...and ive already torched the bushing...so I need to replace it. I realized the axle came apart when I pulled on it the other day and it felt like it came apart. Just had to cut the boot and it seperated.

Im going to have to cut the bolt. I see where the bushing is...I tried to use vise grips to lock onto the bushing and made as tight as I can...but it still spins. There is nothing for the vise grips to catch on so they really dont help at all.

....

Maybe I can try making grooves on the metal part of the bushing...gonna go try that now...
