Copper O-Ring Sleeved Block
ive been using copper spray on every engine build ive done for the last 7 years....i all the sudden stopped using it last year and havn't had a single seep from around the gasket since. hmm. Different for others i do understand...but its just never worked out for me. nothing safe or unsafe about it. plus its junked up my radiator with its gunk over time.
Copper spray just makes a mess. Block and head will be covered in it when you take it apart. I've never had a headgasket failure with OEM or Cometic on my car.

this. with a propper decked block and head you should not have HG issues at all with a good HG and proper instalation
Whoops I meant to quote Reid on his response.
Yep, I agree. I did it once on my engine. when I pulled the head, there was no more copper on the gasket. it was in my cooling system and washed im my oil. Wtf is it good for? ***** that. It's a waste of time. I hear of sooo many people doing it like it's the ****, or it helps. Pull that head and take a look at how cool it's not.

Very valid points!
We currently honda bond all the oil passages, then lightly coat the front and back of the gasket with copper gasket spray, every car that leaves here

I never use copper spray on any builds ive done. Its messy and a pain and yeah it will gunk up your cooling system. It doesnt really help. Most gaskets are already coated with special coating to do what the copper spray does and better. Less messy, doesnt get crap in your system. If you have a properly decked head and block and with the o-ring block you should not have any sealing problems at all as long as you torque the head down properly.
Ive never had head gasket failures on any of my builds. Use a good gasket too. I use Cosworth and PE gaskets on all my Nissan stuff and everything else I use a premium gasket as well. Not a big cometic fan as they have sealing issues on their SR20 gaskets. Dont know about the honda ones but I see a lot of people using them on big builds.
I would definitely stay away from copper spray.

I NEVER use this stuff. I just make sure everything is clean. Why complicate it more then you have to???
