i don't understand?
i was needing a new window that goes in drivers door cause car was busted into, and i said no to the shop who had window for $399, and instead i searched around and i found a good deal, i got one for $50 at a junkyard, its the same size for my car, and its clean, no cracks or marks and factory tint on it.
i did notice when buying it at the place that there was a bunch of silicone stuff around where the mounting holes would be at the bottom edge, and it was thick, so i just assumed i would get home and scrape all the silicone off and that it would reveal the mounting holes.
but i just started scraping the silicone off one of the hole areas, and its just solid glass there ????, what should i do?, call place i got it at and return it for refund??
i mean is it useless ? or what ?, could i get some type of specialty shop to drill some holes in the glass while keeping it in one piece, and not breaking ???,
or is there some alternative way to install the window without having to have the mounting holes ??
any info or opinions would be appreciated,
thnx

The window you bought should have metal tabs glued to the bottom where you see the residue. You should return the window and look for one that still has the tabs. FYI, I have trued a bunch of different glues and epoxies and have yet to find one that will hold the tab on the glass for more than a day or so.

i don't get it, could'nt i just use the tabs that were on the old window, (the one the thieves busted?), should'nt the tabs still be inside the door panel? i was just thinking i would just be able to put the window in using the tabs from the old window that i was replacing. why would'nt they be there ? or why were you saying for me to return the window i got and get one with tabs? just trying to be clear on everything
thanks
thanks
I thought that EF's didn't have holes? Unbolt the 10mm head bolts fr the regulator and take out your clips. Clean them out and put them back in with regulator down. Slide in glass and tape it up - to door frame. I use automotive goop and it's never failed me - just make sure everything is clean. You could also use an epoxy - put it in the tabs. Raise regulator and put tabs on glass. Leave window up with pressure for at least 48 hours to be sure it dries solid.
Yes, it would be easier to just put the tabs on the window first but if you don't know exactly where they go you could be in trouble. If you want to be extra safe dry fit everything before you bust out the adhesive.
This is how I have done mine but do it how you like.
I wasn't aware that any 88-91 Honda had "factory tint".

N3va3va,
thanks, thats a good explanation so i can follow those steps how you did it, cause that seems like the right way to do it.
i just realised it does'nt have "factory tint", i was just going by what the guy at the junkyard told me, cause i originally found the window by doing search on site CAR-PART.com, which pulled up ones close to me, and in the description box it said "TN", and was an abbreviation for something, and when i asked guy he said meant "factory tint",
but i think factory tint is when the glass has tint that is permenantly incorporated into the glass piece itself, and not a stick on window tint film, and i went to just look at my window and the tint on it looks so perfect that it almost looked like it was factory tint to me at first, but i could feel an edge when i go around the perimeter of it, so that should mean its the stick-on window tint film, and it had a window tint sticker in the corner of the brand, and said Artech.
