b16a starts on "bad" ecu but not on new P28
specs:
built b16
garret gt2560rs
DSM 450cc injectors with resistor box
obd0 dizzy wired for obd1
obd1 auto chassis harness wired conversion to manual
obd1 engine harness
new chip for first p28 (old/ bad)
new chip and p28 ecu
okay so i have a chipped p28 that starts and runs the car but with a 0 code engine light. with any of the 3 chips i have to put in the engine light comes on, but the car starts and runs, just not very well. i got a new chipped p28 from HAmotorsports with another chip for my set up, plugged in the new ecu it turns over but will not start. after lots of troble shooting i sent it back and they sent a new one out. plug it in today and nothing.
so it starts and runs on the old ecu but not on the new. if you plug in the old one, start it up, it runs horrible but runs. if you then disconnect the "old/bad" and plug in the new ecu it will start and run pefectly for a few seconds on what fuel is there, then dies and won't restart. no matter the combination of chip in either one its is the same result. on the new one fuel pump primes and has good pressure, and is getting spark. there is NO engine light with new ecu, even after it dies. any thoughts.
thanks

Even after it dies and restarts? Try pulling the ecu fuse and putting it back and and see if it will start.

ya it primes and has good pressure on the new one, i can see it has spark from inside the car in between the wipers and hood area while starting. but can't check injectors untill someone else is here. and if it is the injectors why no injector engine light. just tried pulling the fuse and didnt do anything.
ya i just tried and it does start on fluid but only as long as i can run around to turn the key. i know its fuel related but i've got a gauge at the rail its good. so that leaves the injectors not pulsing. this engine and set up was in my 86 CRX, just obd0. before i got the new ecu i took the old ecu to a friends house and it did the same thing, started his car, ran like crap and showed a faulty ecu engine light.
I agree. Start by checking whether the injector clips have battery voltage with the key in ON(II) when the new ECU is installed. If that's fine, I'd inspect the A23 and A24 pins in the ECU and ECU connector. If those terminals don't get ground, then the fuel injectors won't pulse.

well just checked voltage, its got almost 12 but the battery is basicly dead now from ****ing with it all day. i'll check the pens now.
okay checked the wire harness a23/24 at the ecu and inside and everything seems fine, nothing loose. rechecked all the grounds. i just dont see why one (old) will work and one will not.
Honestly I think it is your distributor or distributor wiring. Injectors don't all go bad at once; you should have ohmed out your resistor box by now, and worst case scenario if u don't wanna have me tow it to my house; you tow it to potters and pay him to do it.
