What's up people. This is my 1st post here. And im fairlhondasto hondas.. so im not sure how much i'll be posting unless its asking for help.. unless it involves car audio questions or maybe some paint and detail help.. anyway..here's the deal

I have a d16z6.. bad head gasket due to a busted tank seam on the top of the radiator. What im looking for is will a "jdm d16b" head fit my engine? The answer is prolly stupid obvious and that's why I can't find the info. Im looking fir a direct bolt on with my intake/exhaust /ecm etc etc.. I can get a nice 50k head for 75 bucks. Was all fresh before. That's cheaper than having mine machined and ill have fresher valves etc. That's all I know about the head. Maybe I can get a head code? Im not sure. But any info would be a help! Thanks

Do you mean the d15b head? I am not pulling up just a d16b head. There is a d16b2 and a d16b5. I know the d15b cam will work in the z6 head. From what I am coming up with the z6 head and the d15b head are the same. They both have the p08 head.

Ok. As for the head. He says he was mistaken. And its a jdm d16z head. I guess ill have to make him look up the head number on it. I going the P08. All p08 heads are identical im.assuming? Do you see any issue with putting a 50k head on a 217k lower end?

 

yeah to my knowledge all p08 heads are the same. no I dont. while you have the head off make sure there arent any major scratches or grooves in the cylinder walls. It would be best to get the block surfaced to make sure its good and flat but you dont have to.

 

ok i got some pics of this head. its a P08 head. im not sure what makes it JDM or how to prove it? or whats different ? hes got a head gasket with it. ive already got a felpro 3layer metal one. hes telling me this one is better for compression? Lmk what you think. this head is $75 and has 50k on it ... if i have my head redone its only $45 but i have to pull the cam, reset the lifters etc.. something i dont know anything about lol. im trying to just bolt it up and go.. with this "JDM" head im concerned maybe the cam or vtec is different and i might have distributer or computer problems?? please let me know if you see anything out of the ordinary or to make me stear clear of this.

I checked my head. Its a P08-4

 

The head pictured is a D16Z6/JDM SOHC ZC/JDM D15B Vtec head. They're all the same. Don't use the gasket pictured, it's a graphite/composite gasket, get a steel gasket, either D16Z6 or D16Y8 will do.

 

Ok Kool I already have a felpro metal gasket for my z6. With this jdm head should I be safe with bolting it on a going as far as the computer and distributor are concerned? I wasent sure about the cam.is it different

 

It's exactly the same as the head that came off it, so yes. The cam will either be identical or nearly identical.

 

Sweet. Thanks for the help. So its worth the 30 bucks for me to just bolt this on vs pulling my cam and everything, something I know nothing about. Instead having mine decked for $45.. im not looking fwd to messing with the cam and lifters.. niether am I excited about the timing belt and gears either.
