Default 95 D16 turbo loud backfire

hey guys. i have a 95 coupe D16 turbo. I havent driven the car in about a week or so. i drive it today and i put gas in it. bout an hour later every once in a while theres a very loud backfire...almost sounds like a gunshot. feels like its coming from under my feet. i had the exhaust checked at my local muffler shop everything is tight. no leaks. never got gas at this gas station before...could it be i got a crappy batch of gas? any response is appreciated.

CEL codes?

Start with a tune up and an ignition/mechanical timing check.

a CEL wouldn't come up for me...the guy who i bought the car off of...he made the CEL into the shift like lol the car did sit for a while before i bought it so its possible it could need a tune up. it sounds kinda of cool but not driving through south philly at 3 in the morning. I just recently lost my job so its hard to find someone to look at it for free

When you have the funds, have the items I mentioned checked.

Also, you must have a working CEL. Rewire it to stock and then pull the codes.
