Engine Swap 2001 Civic LX D171A
Hello,
I am in the process of wanting to do a engine swap on my 2001 Civic LX with the D17A1. I am new to this and just doing my homework so please just bear with me...... I really want to put a V-Tech in it due to power and reliability. I also read about chaning out the head on the D17A1?. I have about 120k miles on it now. It runs good but could use some get up and go. The transmission is a automatic and changed the fluid in it last year. also the oil on a regular basis.
Also wheel size.... I have the factory 14" and would like to go bigger without sacraficing comfort and maybe lowering a bit. Can anyone give me some ideas and be seriouse. I am used to doing tjis on my truck but got it finished just looikng into buildong my Honda and next my Harley LOL. Hondas are really easy wo work on and thats what really got me hooked on them. Any help would be a great help.

If you want to do the VTEC (not V-Tech) head swap, use this DIY from the FAQ's
As for wheels, I personally wouldn't use anything over 17" - Which brand and style to go with is your choice to make.
As for lowering the car, that will depend on your budget. I don't recommend you buy Chinese garbage or otherwise buy the cheapest thing you can find. If you want to piece together a suspension kit, start with the purchase of Ground Control sleeves. Then you can add some dampers later on. If you would rather buy full-coilovers, but don't want to spend more than $1,000.. Progress makes a decent set.
For more info on suspension options, read through the last dozen pages or so of the Suspension thread. https://honda-tech.com/forums/honda-civic-2001-2005-78/01-05-civic-suspension-q-coilovers-springs-bars-etc-2531769/
