F22a4 Timing belt reset?
Replaced water pump on f22a4?
My question is how can I make sure I am at TDC with cylinder 1? Do I turn the crank shaft 180 left or right , clock wise or counter ?
Second the head I know must be at cylinder 1 also with all valves closed and cylinder 2 with intake open ? How can I make sure of this with the cam gear or valve cover off?
Thanks all I'n advance !

Did you make sure you had everything at tdc before you removed the belt? This is a must on an interference engine. You won't want to be moving things after the belt is off. The crank will be at tdc when the marks align or you can look through the flywheel timing plug and it will need to be at 0. The cams will need to have the arrow on the pulley facing up and the notches at the timing cover at 3 and 9 o'clock.

This link should help https://honda-tech.com/zerothread/1908944. All f22 are very similar the F22a4 does not have the timing marks on the outside timing belt cover.
Yes I know I checked haha, thanks all , but no I was not there when they removed the belt but now need to help them re set things, but I guess I'll just use the long screw driver for TDC on cylinder 1 and just reset the head with the cover off!
Let me know if this will work or help me out haha thanks

I would take the whole thing apart and start from scratch. This is an Interference engine one mess up and say good by to your valve train. Not worth it IMO!
Yea I know , but it's not that serious , the only thing I'm worried about it the bottom end being 180 off timing or not! I have done all the timing I'n the world on my d16 but that was cake it had 1000 different marking ! I'll just take my time with it! No see it's a family members car and they replaced the belt and no pump somi think they might have installed the belt wrong and caused it to over heat because of off a tooth or 2 ! I hope I don't fix this thing and ita a valve :-( ! Thanks all

Taking off the t-belt before TDC'ing the engine won't do any harm. It's when you're putting the t-belt back on, thats when you need to make sure you have everything TDC before the installation of the timing & balancer belts.
?? Nuss, are you saying that pulling the belt off and then lining up the marks is ok?.....or if you mark the belt and gears, before pulling it, transfer those marks on the old belt to the new belt-counting the number of teeth on the belt- and then align the marks on the new belt to thos on the gears.
Good Luck.
Yes, thats exactly what I meant. You can either TDC it before removing the t-belt or TDC it before installing the t-belt. Either way, it's up to you on your comfort level of doing it if you get what I mean. Don't force yourself if you aren't quite sure as it can get ugly if there's one mistake that you didn't do it right. I've done it this way with success.
Good Luck.
