Getting ready to swap my 1.6 sohc vtec for b16b. 95 civic ex
Runnng the stock ecu chipped from rywire. Got all the parts at least I think I do. Just missing the lower right front tranny bracket the bolt patterns are different then my stock one. Any tips on the install? And what's the best way to reroute the hydraulic clutch lines being they don't match up. Your advice is appreciated this is my virgin swap haaa thnks again
Any tips? Well when I did my B18B install, I opted to remove everything I could because I was dropping it down from the top. If your going from the top, it might be smart to pick up the motor with quite a bit of angle (tranny side sitting lower).
When I dropped the B18 in, I had to get the tranny low enough to slide under the frame so I could fit the other side of the motor down into the bay.
Also, not sure about a B16, but I didn't re-route any clutch lines when I did my swap. My line currently sits just above my passenger side upper mount.
Lastly, my B18 was my first swap too, and I had 2 guys helping me who knew what they were doing. What worked really well (consider the motor was at such an extreme angle to fit it in) was use some heavy screwdrivers as temporary bolts to just keep the motor from moving once its in place (obviously DON"T let all the weight sit on the screwdrivers...)
We went passenger side upper mount first, then rear t-bracket, then driver's timing belt mount. Once those were in, we went around replacing the screwdrivers with actual bolts, because now the motor wasn't moving it was really easy to fit the bolts through the holes. After that it was the last two lower mounts, and she was in.
This probably isnt the "proper" way, but I made sure it was safe by keeping all the weight of the motor on the hoist, while having a jack underneath.
Oh, and be mindful of your IACV on the Intake manifold. It can get rather close to the brake lines on the firewall. Plus you don't want to bend any hardlines.
