Default Is the part of the transmission suppose to be exposed???

I looked under my 1997 Civic EX Coupe and noticed that the bottom part of the transmission doesnt bolt up to anything on the motor and it look like part of the transmission internals are exposed. This is my first Honda ever, I know they are suppose to be reliable and all but... is this right???

It's just a clutch cover. you can put one on after you slap the motor and tranny in the car. they are cheap, you don't really need to run one ( i know all of my friends don't use one) but i slapped on one cuz i don't want all the blood from the children i run over to make my clutch slip. lol

But my OEM exhaust manifold is cracked and EBAY's $60 dollar stainless steel, TIG wleded, Mandrel bent, exhaust manifolds are looking pretty attractive!

Is that some sort of rule? I'm looking at one RIGHT NOW on my watch list. I guess there no danger of you hitting the Buy It Now button.
