94 Civic EX - New fuel pump wayyy too loud......
Guys, just installed a new fuel pump in my 94 EX and it now runs great. BUT, the inside noise it makes is not acceptable. Did I buy the wrong aftermarket pump or is any aftermarket pump the problem. I can hear it over most all road noises , and if the radio is not on, I don't think I could drive it more than a few miles at a the time.......anybody else have one of these.......
I will recheck on the namebrand when I get home. Sorry but this noise will NOT due. I shall pull an old used one at the salvage yard and put it in before I live with this critter. Thanks, just hoping I got the wrong aftermarket pump........

Checked the box and the pump is from Airtex......a company in Illinois. Prolly made in China. ef9 is correct, with the stereo off, the consant buzzing is maddening. It sounds like the noise is coming from the engine, not under the rear seat. Will have to do something...
Yes I've put in Airtex fuel pumps in my 93 del sol and they are loud especially in a del sol because you are sitting right next to it. Got mine at Autozone and I think they are a cheap line product. One thought is if the fuel pump is drawing a little too much current it may be working harder and sounding a little louder. Maybe the main relay's solder joints are weak and you're getting too much current to the pump which could burn out a pump prematurely. Maybe check fuel pressure to see if it's too high? Maybe the pump is working too hard.
