I have a 1993 Honda Civic LX, and I recently upgraded to HID blue-tinted Xenon headlight bulbs, and clear corners. The bulbs that are stock for my front turn signals are yellow tinted and dont really compliment the nice soft white light from the headlights.
I can buy Xenon super-white bulbs for the front turn signals, but I'm wondering if that would be illegal or not? Its not like the signals would be any harder to see/notice, but I'm unsure if DOT standards says that FRONT signals need to have an overall amber tint to them.

Depends on cops in your area and where you get inspection. Before I got the JDM front end conversion I had clear turnsignals with Blue (hyperwhite turn signals) Had one cop just nicely warn me to change them out. The place where I got my inspection made me put my stock ones back in I am pretty sure they are not legal because the blue pigment resembles cops

Well they are amber for a reason. If you don't mind getting tickets (and I hope you do) go for it.

It is beyond me why people want to do things to there car that they know are illegal?

I'm the last person to bust on anyones ride. I can see the creativity in almost anything. But when you do things that are unsafe and illegal welll...that just gets my blood boiling

No really it's probably not a good idea. Cops will be on you and that is there job to do it.

Imagine if everyone made there lights any color they wanted? I'm getting red headlights and white brake lights next week.
