i purposely hard wired my air horn to go off when my alarm goes off....but one side effect is that my siren goes off when i press the horn.....i don't want that....any ideas?
I need something that will make electricity flow only one way thru a wire

hey dangsr how did u hook up ur siren to ur horn? i'm just curious b/c my siren itself isn't "annoying" enough!
splice the positive from the siren to the positive to your horn switch....works great
only draw back is that your siren goes off when you press your horn....I fixed that today by getting a diode at the electronics store for 35 cents....it allows the electricity to flow only one way
next step is more sirens

doesn't ur alarm have a "horn/pulsed output?" thats what I hooked up my air horns too.. when the alarm goes off.. the siren goes off as normal.. and then the air horns are pulsed on and off... when i press the horn the siren doesn't go off...
Make sure you add a relay as you add more sirens.
Eventually you will hit a point where your alarm will not be able to supply enough current to all your sirens. I usually recommend a relay after two sirens. You should also have a relay off the siren wire for your air horn.

why do I need a relay when adding sirens....can't I just splice into the positive lead of the stock siren line?

...as stated the alarm output can only handle one siren on the avg...if you want to add more or horns you need to add relays and diodes to isolate thecircuts from each other ( why when you hit your horn the siren goes off..........Wait I see a lightbulb going off.
I wanna add a siren inside the cabin..how do I add a relay so I'm not drawing too much power from that one line?

no wonder my hood siren isnt as loud any more.. I added a back up siren the other day and just TAPPED the back up siren + wire into the siren wire comming out of the alarm's brain.. and as for the sound of the back up siren, it isnt as loud as when i hook it directly to the battery when i tested to see if it worked..
Questions: what kind of rely would i need? and how would i hook it up so both sirens blast to there full potential?
