Default Knock sensor been disconnected for a while. Bad timing?

I bought my b16a crx hf from a lady who knew nothing about the car.

I come to find that the knock sensor has been broken off on the back of the block which is why i have been getting code 23.

Now that Im going to get a new knock sensor and try to get the old one out.......Am I going to have a problem with timing once the new one is on?

I have tried doing some research and can't find anything. I dont know to much about timing and wouldnt even know if I HAD bad timing. The car runs fine, and idle fine, and I don't get the CEL code when I drive at night for some reason.

How Do I know if i have bad timing? If I did have bad timing what would I need to do. If anyone knows of a link they can send me about timing for a b16 or just any input, That would be great. Thanks.

Heres the knock sensor now that I have removed it. IDK how it supposed to work because where it screws into the block its all metal, IDK how its supposed to sense anything. Is it supposed to look like this? also is it possible I can just get a new clip part for it and stick it in the small hole thats in the center or do I need to go get a brand new one?

I am so fooled right now. I replaced the knock sensor, and the loose wire that I found with a connector on it, fit right onto the new knock sensor and I am still getting code 23.....I reset my ECU by removing battery connection, and still I get this code. The car runs exactly the same way as it was before i replaced this knock sensor. So i kinda feel like i just waisted $109. Hmnmmmm. Anyone have advice?
