Found one of those 2 wires that you can see, disconnected which I'm hoping is why my guage stopped working and my fan wouldnt turn on.

And in the process of looking for that problem I found this loose connector which I;m hoping goes to the knock sensor, I am getting 23 right now from the CEL.

I cannot find where to connect this, and I cannot see the knock sensor behind the block and I have been looking at pics for a while and still can't find it. i must be rahtarded

 

I found where the Knock sensor is SUPPOSEd to be but there is some weird metal cap thing on it, as if It nots supposed to be used anymore...meaning....I may have a different ECU?

I hadnt even noticed I didnt post that info. I think maybe I didn't post it because i have an earlier thread just only a few threads down that says this info. but good reminder.

Today was the first day i took a look at the ECU ( my first car to ever work on) and I was trying to see if it said anything i picked it up as far as I could without harming the wires and I couldnt find anything that said what kinda of ECU it is. It has a v shape imprinted on it and in marker it said b16a with some numbers.

The code i got was 2 long flashes and 3 short flashes which is the knock sensor. Ive looked at everypossible picture I could find where knock sensors are located and came to realize that it seems as if the knock sensor isnt being used because there is this thin metal cap where the sensor is supposed to go in the block and the knock sensor cable is just sitting there as in the video. So Idk what to do and the previious owner knew nothing about the car or any of the mods done to it, she just drove it around.

Is the green one the knock sensor?

 

I think it is, the white one is a temperature sensor used for turning on the fan I believe.

 

The extra plug on your video is part of the DPFI wiring of the D15 motor and is not used on the B16 or D16. In other words it is an extra plug.

Now this is were the knock sensor is located:



The green one is possibly a coolant temp. switch as well but you shouldn't need it since you have the one by the thermostat.

 

the green one is a oil temp fan switch if i'm not mistaken. besides in the car the engine originally came in, this won't ever be used.

 

Well I'm pretty sure that the knock sensor isnt being used, If the knock sensor isnt being used then I have a different ECU. Anyone know how to check what kind of ECU I have? Ive looked all over it for anything that says and cant find nothing. And anyone know how to bypass this 23 code?

 

there is a sticker that indicates what you have

the ecu's identity is located in the spot labeled B



if you don't have that sticker, i'd still bet you have an obd0 pr3 or pw0. since we know based on the blinking ecu led, and the fact that its throwing a code 23, there is not much else it can be.
