How long can I drive around w/just primer?
I'm in the process of sanding my car, but I don't have a lot of time, so I'm doing a half hour each night after work. If I'm sanding and primering it, how long can I be driving around with just primer on the car before I need to worry about getting rust? I'm gonna get it painted as soon as I'm done, just don't have a lot of time, so it's prob going to take me a couple of weeks. I've heard primer doesn't protect very well against rust. Thanks.
That ALL depends on what kind of primer you are using. Rattle can primer can promote rust, while a good epoxy primer would almost completely resist corrosion.
When I get it painted they're going to primer it too, so I'm just using rattle can primer to cover up bare spots or chips. I'm pretty much just sanding it is all.
get good quality primer. i think they sell epoxy primer in a can, look around for it. does it slow alot where youre from? salty roads? if not, i wouldn't worry about it, its only a couple weeks, just keep an eye on it.
