how to tell if body shop did prymer then paint?
My wife's 03 civic got into fender bender. Car needs front bumper and passenger side fender. One body shop gave me quote for $350 and I supply bumper and fender. I think its reasonable price but want to make sure they do primer then paint not just paint. How can you tell the difference? I know if its just paint over the time it will piling off.
seriously bro you can't and i wouldn't worry about the primer alot of parts come preprimered. also shops do not want to do it twice by running the risk of messing up and have good expierience if their a shop charging that much, feel me??? the thing you should worry about is how many coats of base coat paint and clear they use, the more the better....2-3 coats of paint and 3-5 coats of clear is great
in my body shop we really dont prime the whole thing..we spot prime what ever body work was done..just make sure on the bumper they use bully dog it will prevent peeling..n thats a great price btw...check my build thread to see me car we used no primer
350 sounds like a scuff and shoot price. there isnt a problem with that if the panels are straight.

NO need to worry about it.. when the fender gets pressed out the fender metal stamper .. they primer it black and ready to paint... So no there is no need for your body shop to spray it "gray" primer, Parts are sold ready to paint from the Manufacture
that only applies to OEM parts... a majority if not all OEM parts are primered from the factory... but aftermarket parts may come bare metal with only a mold release
