97 ex tranny question
Sup guys. Gota 97 ex coupe. Bottom end slung a rod at 197xxx. Replaced with a 80k y7 bottom end. Installed new clutch kit. But before that happened, the tranny started grinding a little when going into 2nd and 3rd. Then it started making a grinding noise when you release the clutch, in neutral or in gear. I picked up a used tranny in some trading i did, but i dont know the condition its in. First question is is there a quick way to manually check the tranny i bought without splitting it or taking it to a shop? Second question is is it a very indepth process to split the case and check/replace the main bearing and synchros? Ive done alot of mechanic work, but have never tore a tranny apart. Thanks for any advice.
enter button...hit it.
taking a tranny apart can be easy. if you have the patience.
AQUAFINA on here is the tranny expert. he is very nice and willing to give advice if needed.
either way jus drain the tranny and replace the fluid. no1 ever does that and thats why they go bad 99% of the time

The fluid has been changed on a regular basis. My wife had the car since it had only 60k on it. I was really just wandering what things, if any, i could check out on the used one i aquired to better my chances of it being ok before i install it without taking it to a shop.
