Default Will a VTEC run ok in a non VTEC car?

Guys, big noob here.......as I understand things, a vtec mainly consists of solenoid operated by the ecu that varies valve lift/timing and produces more horsepower on demand. If one installs this motor in a non vtec setup car, will it run just as fine powerwise, I mean, at least the power of a non vtec? . I have read the threads stating how to install a vtec setup in a non vtec car and that may be an option in the near future. But for now , I can get a good deal on one to replace my oilburner. Oh , yes, this is on a D15B econobox motor....thanks

I have noticed that the stock exhaust manifold and muffler is bigger on the vtec, I assume the catalytic converter and piper are also bigger. If I swapped all that over at the same time, would my non vtec ecu have any problems....thanks again....

yes, it will run just fine. though if you want vtec to work you will need to wire it up either straight to the ecu through the firewall (plug underneath the battery box, almost directly at the ecu) or through the shock towers to make it look OEM.
