Completed some much needed maintenance today
Well it was long overdue for some much needed maintenance on my CRX.
With my CRX having 252,200 km on it (156,585 miles), I decided not to risk it any longer.
From reading the service history on my computer-word document, my suspension parts have never been changed, so after 21 years, at this mileage, it was time.
I replaced both lower front ball joints, and front wheel bearings at the same time,
using only Genuine OEM Honda parts.
I also replaced the front rotors with KVR cadmium plated drilled rotors, and Hawk HP Plus pads, serviced front and rear calipers, and replaced the brake fluid with DOT 4 racing fluid.
The old brakes have lasted 9 years and it was time to replace them as the rotors were thinning out - there was a lip on the edge of the rotors !!
Lastly, I replaced the rear hatch shocks, again using only OEM Honda shocks.
What a difference this made ! Much easier to open now !
Supposedly, the rear hatch shocks are discontinued now ???!?!!! My dealer told me I was lucky to get the set.
All this took 3.5 hours labour @ $55/hour... I am one happy camper.
Working at a car dealer sure has it's benefits
Now I wont be paranoid driving long distances anymore, worrying about ball joint/wheel bearing failures.. haha I've heard horror stories about high mileage cars !
