help me better my 60' all motor b20 crx
I took my crx to the track today to try out my new m&h 23" slicks I just got. my first pass I cut a 1.768 60" and every other pass after that it was a low to mid 1.8. I was hoping to break into the 1.6's. the car weighs right around 1850 with me in it and is a b20 with some mild work, ls tranny, welded diff.
I think the biggest problem is I can't hold the car in the water box for long enough while doing a burn out. it just drags the rear tires right out. I even stopped right in the middle of it and it pulled right out, doesn't matter which gear 2nd or 3rd.
I was just hoping to get into the lower 12's but I know now its going to take a little more work.

tried every thing from 12psi to about 8 and launching from 5k to 7k (revlimiter) I really think the problem is my burnouts are insufficient. what kind of 60's should a a.m. car like mine be doing? just trying to see what a reasonable goal would be.
Maybe you are letting the clutch out to soon, and the rpms aren't high enough for a proper burnout. Try hitting the rev limiter twice then letting the clutch out. I had this problem when i first used slicks too, and that fixed it for me.
I do my burnout in second gear. Make sure there is enough water in the burnout box, roll trough the water box right at the edge where the water ends. That's where you want to be for the burn out. Not in the box, but not out of it either. At least that is what has worked for me.

keep the good ideas coming guys. I think 90sedan might be right about the rpms aren't high enough when I drop the clutch.
another thing that kinda caught my eye was my mph went down by about 2mph on average and I was thinking its probably from the 23" slicks vs the 21.5" slicks I was running before that would put me right at almost 7k going through the traps vs about 6500 now. my 1/8th mph seems to be about the same as it was before. I would love to be able to get some of that mph back.

On that size tire I ran 7psi and cut 1.71-1.73 all day open diff heavy turbo street car. Do you have a competent person with you at the track to determine spin, bog, etc?? In my experience an extra set of eyes and a datalog go a long ways.
ya Ill have my buddy start watching the car more closely. Id really love to hit some 1.6's in it. I plan on going next weekend. Im working on street tuning the car some more as well as a few other little things to try to pull a tiny bit more power out of it.
I have a wideband in it I just need to run the wire to my s300 for data logging and get a new laptop battery since mine dies the second its unplugged.
