B-series engine mounts in EG
I've been looking for this information for a while now on the net. I can't find a valid answer to that question.
I have the "left front mount" busted and I would like to replace it. I went to the HASPORT website and the only mounts I found was the Transmission mount, Rear mount and side engine mount. Thinking it would be a great upgrade to remove engine torque on the old mounts... i decided to upgrade them.
The problem is I still have that left front mount busted. HASPORT doesn't seems to sell them. (I'm saying "them" because the right front mount is the same as the left one). I found that AVID sell those two mounts in pair.
Then I was going through some B-series swap picture on the internet and in some magazine. I noticed that some people seems just to not install the left front and right front mount.
My thought would be... If those mounts are there, it's because they are needed. But now i am confuse... I would like some recommendations.
Thank you

Most people that run Hasport mounts (or any good aftermarket mounts for that matter) don't run lower torque mounts, they definitely aren't nearly as critical with aftermarket mounts but they do add a small margin of safety.
Those are the factory torque mounts that bolt to the motor and underneath each frame rail on your chasis its not a major need if your using a solid mount kit from hasport. its not vital to your engine mounting needs. Ive seen those mounts one other persons car and he had the complete billet mount kit along with those torque mounts and he stated that if anything it is slighty more solid but it also increased the engine vibration to the chaisis and are not very DD friendly. So in a nutshell Build a race + Avid torques mounts = worth getting as for build a daily driver + avid torque mounts = bordeline possibly out of you daily comfort driving.
Thank you very much for your recommendations. That will help me a lot.
You are welcome
but I just wanted to say thank you for all the torque specs. They will come in handy this weekend.
using aftermarket mounts does not negate the need for the factory torque mounts
they are an important safety feature as well
the torque mounts keep the engine from going into the driver compartment in the event of an accident
here is why you need to run factory torque mounts regardless if using aftermarket mounts or not

had the torque mounts been installed the engine would not have fallen like it did causing damage to the axle, oil pan and alternator
Had the torque mounts been installed the bolts probably never would have pulled out of the block in the first place.
you dont really need those mounts.... they are there just for extra protection from engine rocking... the main three mount are the tranny, rear, and driver side mounts.... if u brought hasport than ur already good to go.. dont worry about it
