it is possible to replace a spun bearing with the engine in the car. drop the exhaust, the oil pan, oil pickup tube and main cap/main cap bridge. you should be able to slide the upper half of the bearing out at that point. if the crank is scarred though, you may have to pull the engine anyway.

whatever the case, i would only attempt this [personally] to keep the car running until a suitable replacement engine could be found. only my opinion though..

Just take the block out so you can see the condition of the crank. Trust me bro its worth it so you don't do all that work for nothing.

It is possible. You could also pay $2000 for a $50 hooker. What the hell is the point though? Just pull the motor.

most likely u throw a new bearing in there its going to fail again shortly all its doing is buying u a lil bit of time that probably isn't worth it. ive heard nothing but horror stories of it not lasting but 3k miles after they replaced it. usally once it wears past its protective nickle coating it begins to scar the crank and will chew ur new bearings up quickly. best bet would to take the crank out and replace it as well or take it to a shop to have the journals repolished.

Yes. It's not a great idea but it will get you by until things can be repaired properly. I would take the crank out and have it looked at as well. Might as well replace all the bearings while you have access to them.

Didn't want to take the motor out but might as well do it right the first time. Thanks for the responses
