Help located engraved stamping on block
Ap1. Im trying to locate where the f20c stamp and vin engravement is at exactly (NOT the vin tag behind the head). i did a little research and some guy said its in front of the block behind the intake manifold? everything is really crammed packed behind there that i really dont see anything. so can someone show a picture(s) where its at?
also, how can you determine if the motor and the car are ONE and now swapped?

Assuming that you are looking at the engine, car facing torwards you, and intake in front, the stamping will be to the left of the alternator, directly below the intake manifold, and directly UNDER where the fuel rail cover is. It may be highlighted with some red ink but YMMV. You are looking at it if it starts with F20C1 or F22C1 depending on the S2K you have. Since this is the US, a stock, original engine AP2 has no business with a F20, and a AP1 should NOT have a F22 on it's stamp.
Anyway the last 3 or 4 numbers of the VIN is what you are looking for. They wont match exactly due to the engine and actual car being on separate lines, but it should be similar to the production # of the VIN.

Funny. Thanks for letting me know an ap1 shouldn't have a f22 stamp. That wasn't my question or concern.
But is the stamp visible w/o taking the alternator off?
I don't know which direction ur looking at the motor but ur all over the place. Facing right at the intake Mani standing at the driver side, there is no left after the alternator. The fuel rail cover is above the manifold so it can't be directly below that. So it's which I'm guessing near the alternator below the manifold. Thanks for ur help I guess I'll do a little looking around some more in that area
