No block stamp?
Well I bought a car without looking at the block stamp . The guy claims it's a JDM B18C but the block stamp is absolutley smooth. There's not a single stamp or evidence that it was ever grinded off. It looks like a stock block without the stamp. Anyone know why?
Bruthaboost gave me the idea to check the stroke to find out what block it really is. I will be doing that soon. I just don't understand why it has no stamp.

put up some pics. You can tell sometimes by the type of intake manifold, what lettering and where on the valvecover, how tall the motor sits in car etc...

He could have a frank motor so the valve cover really won't help much.

Chances are the engine is stolen. Are the vin plates attached or is that smoothed over too? If it has vin plates on the block you can find out what block it is or at least what car it came out of etc...Honda would not make a mistake like that.

Re: No block stamp? (SikCivic)
Talked to the guy who sold me the vehicle. He says his friend is the one who did the motor swap and they still have papers on it. However, I told him papers wont do me any good since there are no longer any identifying marks on the block or tranny. Basically if the hood gets popped then it will be impounded.
I don't like that I could be cruising around with someone's stolen motor. Not cool. I'm pulling it out and telling the guy to come pick it up with $2,500 of the money I gave him for the car or I will be calling the cops.
