Rather noob question...side molding removal
I want to repaint my side moldings, but I have a question about my side moldings, more specifically, the removal of them. Do I just pop them off? Is there a screw I need to use to remove them??
There are clips behind the molding. Those clips are delicate. Use two flexible putty knives and get behind the molding and "un-clip" the clips. One knife on top and one at the bottom. Take your time because they break easily.
Door molding has a screw in the end you have to remove...also can take inside door panel off to get them out easier
You can get to the front ones from behind the wheel well if your take splash guard off, then they pop right out...
Rear quarter panels im not too sure...but i think they are like the fronts.

My car has the Wings West RS kit on it and appears the previous owner just ripped the molding off. The reason i say that is because when i was doing my speakers, i found a handful of what apperas to be molding clips in the bottom of the door. They seem very fragile and will break if not taken off correctly. On a positive note, i have no more door rattle lol.

rear quarters the easiest way i have found is to take out the rear seats and the interior plastics in order to access the clips on the inside. more time consuming, but less chance of breaking or losing clips. fenders are easy to get to removing splash guards as noted above, the doors have a screw in the back, which can sometimes be a royal pain in the ***, once removed, the trim piece slides to the front of the car. sometimes pulling gently outwards can help. the clips are a 2 piece system. the slider on the trim, and the clip itself. in most cases you can still get to the clips from the inside of the door as well.
