D.I.Y Tapping Vacuum Ports
So I was on the dyno yesterday and came across a vacuum/boost issue at high rpm and high boost. I have just been lazy used a T-tap to source vacuum. Unfortunately though the tap wasn't the perfect size and I was having issue. So to avoid this I decided to tap another port into my spacer.
This DIY is for anyone running boost, or wants more vacuum lines for gauges, or FPRs, etc etc
I decided to tap into my throttle body spacer, you can use this DIY for any source on the manifold (depending on what you need)
So here is what I started with.. me being lazy

But the little nipple was to small for the hose used...
So first thing is I had to remove the spacer. To do so I just removed the throttle body and pulled off the spacer. I then set it in a vice to keep it secure.

Now I use a center punch to make a indent for my drill bit to grab

Now I start small with a smaller drill bit and drill my hole

then I increase the hole appropriately

Now I'm using a 1/8" NPT Tap from a hardware store. It will say on the package of the correct drill bit to use. Since I've done this before I don't remember what size drill bit I just keep the two together. So make sure to pay attention

Now time to tap! SLOWLY and carefully keep pressure on the bit and keep it as straight as possible!!

I try to make several turns forward then reverse it back out to keep the bit free of debris. Then keep pushing forward. Now take a look at your threads

Now she should be pretty much finished so try out your new fitting

and clean it up before using

And reinstall with a much cleaner, much better setup!
