Default Car starts 1/3 of the time

Recently my car has not been starting all the time. I just replaced the starter and the problem still continues. Some times it will turn over when I turn the key other times when I turn the key nothing happens. It doesn't even turn over and some other times it will start then die and when I try to restart it it just turns over and doesn't start.

I drive a 5 spd '93 del sol that I bought used...

get new grounds, if that dont fix it...
when you turn the key to "on" do you hear the fuel pump prime everytime?
if you cant hear it at all. rollyour windows up. turn your radio off.
and turn the key all the way before actualy starting the motor..

you should hear a hummmm..

if you dont hear it everytime you have a corroded board on your main relay.
get a one at the junk yard.
or

you can fix it yourself.

take it out. pop the top grey or black cover off the top of it. and theres all these solder points...drop a drip of solder on each one.

from what u posted sounds like ure main relay it sends power to ure fuel pump as well as other things if u turn the key and nothing happens like the lights (oil, seatbelt, etc) then its a ground but if they turn on and still nothing it's more than likely ure main relay.

So it's probably my main relay I don't want to spend 56 dollars for nothing... Is there any way to check if it is to be 100% sure or no

ok just for the record... i couldn't hear anything when it was in the on position no fuel pump or anything over the loud beeping it does to say that the srs isn't engaged yet... but anyways so i went ahead and spent the 60 dollars on the main relay cause i had no other guesses.... did that this afternoon and it started, then changed my g/f's oil and it started up again so fingers crossed it fixed it... the bored was a lil yellow but all the solder looked fine and not cracked.... sooo who knows if it will stay fixed... will post again if it still doesn't work for more ideas thanks guys

I have a 93 del sol SI D16Z6 auto all stock and have had the same problem. For the past 8 months I have been blaming the main relay and the fuel pump and have swapped them out which seemed to fix the problem and the problem came back after about a month each time. The day after a rain storm it came back again. Turns out it is the ignition switch. Next time it happens to you jiggle the key as you turn it thru the starting positions. You may hear the fuel pump kick in and then you'll know for sure. I think the electrical switch alone is available after market (ebay). The dealer sells the whole switch and key cylinder (about $250). Or junkyard.
I'm in Florida too, near the beach, maybe it's the humidity?

Would the radio and everything still come on if it is the ignition switch?

or...buy one and try it. then youl know if thats it or not.

or...i can sell you one cheap you pay shipng.

I already replaced it with a new one and it still isn't working so if it was my ignition switch my radio and dash lights wouldn't come one because try are lighting up and the radio kicks on but it doesn't even try to turn over

Is it possible for the car not to start due to a bad speed sensor? In my mind I don't see how that could prevent my car from starting

Sounds like a bad ignition switch.
