Default MAin bearing help

I am in the process of putting my gsr back togther, and i used my old main bearings to figure out the right main bearings to order.

i determined they were color Brown. After plasti gaugeing all mains were .001" so they are to big would my new color be yellow?

What bearings did the block originally come with? Check the block stamps and crank stamps.

Your mains measured out to .001" clearance? Spec is .0015-.0017 I think...

Ok so your too tight, The way I read your post it was too lose. So you need to open up the clearances some, not much at all..

from my understanding it all depends, you can run tighter clearences then a turbo setup, but you want it to be more on the looser end of the recommended specs if you plan to rev alot higher then stock

Looser clearances give more oil volume in the bearings BUT less oil pressure overall, Honda engines like oil pressure, especially VTEC engines.

Most builders suggest staying with factory tolerances here, Honda did its homework and theres really no reason to change.

it's been a while but from the top of my head the clearances for the mains but I think 0.001" is good for all of them except for the middle one. I think the middle should be at least 0.0012". check the factory specs to be sure.
