Tonight i was driving in the rain, and i got on the gas little bit. Wheelspin all the way through 1st, shift to 2nd with no traction in sight... I watch the tach rise to 6000rpm and then POP.. the RPM swings down and i instinctly let off. Idle is fine at this point, everything is normal except for the fact that after 3000rpm there is NO POWER.....
I get home and it drives perfect under 3000rpm.. but if i mash the throttle, its as if there is NO power, im thinking its misfiring. According to my friend who was following me, he heard a POP and saw a small flame from my exhaust.. IM pretty damn sure its the distributor, since ive been having CONSTANT problems with the Crank angle sensor and it misfires all the damn time.. any other ideas?!

 

wellI'd guess that you're getting too much unburned fuel, causeing the gas to go into the exhaust and igniting. if you've been having trouble with your dizzy, try replacing it and see what happens. as for the pop, that was just a backfire, nothing new, my sled used to do that every second pull

Sounds like you're running rich...and your timing is probably off...did you inspect the dizzy yet?
