Sup fellas, took these plugs outta my boys GSR w/ bolt ons. These plugs have 40 miles on them, the old ones looked similar.
Running on a chipped p72.
The withness is like a chalk on the elctrode. You can see tho, number 1 (closest to the T belt) isnt as bad.

Looks to be running lean. Plugs should have a slight tan-ness to them what compression and fuel is the motor running on? What plugs are these? If you shine a light down the spark plug holes, do you see little tiny shiny specs on the pistons?

CR is 11:1, stock igniton tables, brek6 ( or w/e)
The wierd thing is that the base of the plug it showing signs of richness, and the strap is a chalky white/tan.
Im gonna bump up the fuel pressure up 5 psi and recheck in another 40miles. I got some more things to do before the car is ready to be tuned.

Looks to be a bit on the Lean side.........and maybe a colder range plug! But you would know for sure with a tune!
The black on the base ring only covers the top and doesn't go any further than the first thread. IIRC that is also a sign of a lean AFR. Isn't it if the colour goes further down the threads it's rich?
Hard to tell exactly where the ground strap changes colour as well..... Kind of looks a bit low (close to the base) = higher combustion temps. Should try a colder plug, maybe a 7. I wouldn't be running this with 11:1 CR and no tune for very long like this. Just my 2¢ worth.

so bumped the fuel pressure 5 psi, they are starting to tan up now.
Ill take good pics with a good camera after easter dinner.

Tan is good.
FYI, to get a good read from your plugs you should actually use a new set..... To properly tune using plugs usually requires a few sets of plugs. 2-3 maybe. I'm guessing that you do not have access to a wideband O2 and is this your only method for tuning for now, correct?

i dont think we can even consider this "tuning", haha, but yes this is my only way as of right now.
these plugs were new about 50 miles ago, but i hear ya on the few sets thing.Im just trying to get this motor to run safe enough to drive everyday until i get some other things together.
As of right now, its on a cheap ebay 4-2-1, and a stock muffler, and stock injectors.
Its also throwing a fuel supply code (41) now and again, and from what i read is prolly related to the o2, so i got a used on for free.Up until yesterday, it had a stock cat on it.
Just trying not to tune it twice.

I had a similar issue with my build after tuning. I am not so sure if it was an issue, but I switched from those plugs to BCPR7EY-11. They are still the same heat range, but for some reason they work better with my motor. They seem to run cooler. Go to ngk.com and type in that part number. If you retarded the timing and added fuel, those plugs should be dark brown or black, not white-ish.
