b18c1 220 215psi compression test turbo?
Ok first ill start of by saying thanks for any info that is giving . I have a 96 ek hatch with an gsr swap in it. It was swapped before i got it. Motor looks clean as hell so not sure bout the history. I dont burn no oil at all no smoking either. I did a compression test. Removed ecu fuse, wot, i got 215 215 210 215 on cylinders. I wanna boost it probly t3 turbo ill get it professionally tuned. I only want like 220whp tops maybe less if needed. Are those numbers ok to boost at ? and what whp should i look at boosting towards its a daily driver and idont beat on my vehicles just want more whp so 220 isnt a have to have number. Thanks
I would almost say for 220whp a turbo is a waste of time, adds a lot more hassle for a daily driver. You could spray a 50 shot of nitrous and probably make the numbers your looking for. But if youre dead set on a turbo setup, your compression numbers look good.
your not wasteing your time and i think your being realistic for power. Read up on how to install the turbo their are plenty of very smart people on here to help ya. Just dont use ebay crap and your reliability issues will improve greatly. I dont regret boosting my car it is good times.. i failed in planning a little but i kept ac,ps, abs so it was a little crowded under the hood. But nothing that isn't getting worked out. ask yourself how much money are you going to spend then others will tell you if u should boost or not.
compression is good to go for turbo.
take my advice however,
-get something bigger than a straight t3
-220whp is only like 4-6 psi boost, perhaps a goal of 8-9 is better
-spend the money on engine management and tuning, your motor will last years on the 275-300whp that 8-9 psi will get you if it is properly tuned and taken care of.
happy boosting!

Thanks for the advice. I have boosted civics before but never tuned myself i always had them tuned. Reason i said 220whp is i wanted to be on safe side and im use 2 d series engines first gsr engine i have had so wasnt sure what was safe on them. Thanks for the advice i know psi means nothing on whp so thats why i said 220whp as a guide line so now i know i can do little more if needed.
