First my cable snapped then I replaced the cable.
Then my clutch pedal started tearing, so I took the pedals out and welded the bracket where it was tearing, then 2 weeks later it started tearing in a different spot.
Put new pedals in, I can't find any tears on the new pedals but I have to keep tightening the clutch cable in order to be able to shift smoothly and not have to jam it into gear.

Is there anything anyone can recommend?

I was thinking maybe something needs lube so there isnt so much strain on the cable/pedals?

 

What engine and trans combo?

 

B16a2 and CRX SI Lsd tranny

 

Get rid of the clutch. Overkill for your setup unless you're tracking it and using slicks. If it's a daily, try something like an exedy stage 1. Mine held up to my old B16 on nitrous and its now on my B20vtec.

 

I had a honda civic wagon with a itr transmission and a b16a in it, 7lb flywheel and stage three clutch
my pedal snapped to the floor. haha.
I just swapped an rt4wd pedal assembly and welded brackets into it.
rt's have stronger pedals.

 

I know that the clutch is too much but I was thinking of keeping it in there for when I go turbo at the end of this summer. But I just might have to get rid of the clutch simply because of this problem anyways.... .

Anyone else heard of this problem due to stage 3 clutch?

 

it's common when using heavy pressure plates. You're gonna snap ****, regardless. You can beef up the pedal assembly and that'll hold up, but you'll be going through cables often. Either convert to hydro or lose the clutch.

 

So you recommend exedy stage 1? Will that still be fine if I go turbo?

 

Nope. Your best bet is to convert over man. Gotta pay to play. Check out Suja1 for their conversion kit.

 

I got a Stage 1 Exedy, I got problems shifting now. Got a slightly mod B16 with Type-R tranny. Happens only when it gets hot from a Time Attack or a 20 minute lapping... I have to keep adjusting the cable tension....not normal. Going back to Type-R OEM clutch which I had before and had zero problems.

 

Do you think the Suja1 ef conversion kit will work in my 88 hf crx?
Do you know how difficult it is to convert?
