got my 93 del sol type s.....d16z6 in it.....last friday morning i took it for a drive n brougt it home......later that night i went to start it up and it fired up for a few seconds and shut off....ive tried multiple throttle bodies and ecu's......i also went and tried a z6 engine harness....i dont know much about del sols but for some reason the harness there is another map sensor harness coming from firewall......im at a loss right now im on the verge of just junking it.......

 

Why can't people just check the basic **** on a car? ;sell it to me bruddah.....500 bucks.....dont junk it.....i wan buyyy mai fweind!!!

So there is a map sensor on the tb and one on the firewall? Now that it does not start:
Are you getting fuel to the cylinders and how about spark.These are some of the basic checks that "that boy sammy" was talking about. Gives more of an idea,although you did say that it cranks but will not start. Check these basics and post results.

 

Falling asleep here, so if it starts up and dies. check your coil to see if its within specs and have your ignitor tested. I had a car do this and my timing was off so you might want to check mechanical timing to see if timing is still lined up. Could also be your fuel pump that might be going.

 

dude.....check your distributor....spark plugs/wires...iacv....fitv....idle screw...intake manifold..... Come on now.

 

No it starts up, runs for about 15 seconds and then dies......that's why I didn't why he was being so rude.....I'm not a complete idiot.....I just can't figure this thing out....

 

Fuel pump? Fuel filter? Any CELs?

 

There is....I just havent checked.them....il get back to you tomorrow after work.....and there's a new fuel filter in it....

 

I've had to replace my fuel pump in my 93 sol recently. same symptons. 18 years old + ethanol what can you expect.

 

is there a access panel for pump or do i gotta drop the tank......just askin cause my 93 hatch had a access panel

 

You can get to the top of the fuel pump, inside the car. You'll have to remove the center console (screws on the sides and inside the center console compartment), including the console around the radio head-unit. And then the rear bins (screws inside the bins) will have to be removed.

Once all that paneling is out, you should see the top of the fuel pump.

 

Have you checked ur main relay?

 

Also, you should check your CELs before you do anything else. They're there for a reason
