'92 - '95 Civics sold in Canada (they weren't all airbagless, but most were)

92 Civics in America didn't come with passenger airbags.

I don't get Honda airbags, they're a worthless feature. My Integra was totaled out by getting hit in front and back, my backseat was touching my front seats and there was fuel all over the road because my gas tank ruptured, but the airbags never deployed. My Civic slid off the road in the rain and hit a curb, then the passenger airbag deployed and broke the windshield; no wheel damage, no suspension damage, only airbag and windshield damage .

No, Canadian CXs only had a driver's side airbag (and could be had that way until 2000) all other models had dual airbags.

Ok i'll have to look into that. In my opinion airbags only create more damaged parts to replace when you bump into something. There's always the route of finding the resistance the airbag module creates and placing a resistor in the circuit and deleting them. But that takes work and who wants to do more work than they need to lol but thanks guys if anyone has more info it would help.

That's interesting, I have never heard of that idea.

I thought they went off at ~30 mph or higher? That's a bit more than a bump.

Damn, that's crazy.

I've heard they just don't work sometimes on these old cars.

Worthless feature? Hmm...well if nothing else just the fact that you had them installed period means insurance will cover your ride/health expenses depending on coverage. If you have an aftermarket steering wheel with no bag in it...they could COMPLETELY deny any coverage for altering an OEM safety device. That means you can be responsible for your cars replacement/repair, your medical bills, the damage caused to anything else including state signs/personal property and the medical bills/ride of whoever you might have hit.

They're a good thought and a cover your own a$$ situation.

I don't know what to tell you, but that just isn't true (about models with no airbags, you could get CX models with dual airbags as part of the CX option package) I've even got the Canadian '96 Civic sales brochure here. Driver's side airbag is standard across the board. Also I have a '96 CX here, automatic with air and P/S, it's got a driver's side airbag, no passenger's side. Same thing for the '96 5 speed CX I put a clutch in last week, and it was as base as you could get, no air, no P/S, no anything that wasn't absolutely necessary. If you saw '96 - '00 Civics without driver's side airbags it means someone swapped the wheel out for a JDM Civic wheel.
