type r cams in B16, need retainers?
I bought a set of type-R cams to put in a B16. I'm going to buy a set of type R valve springs. Do I also need retainers or will the stock B16 work ok?
Thanks for any info

Why not? it's just as easy to find a complete ITR valvetrain.. springs, cams and retainers.. at least it was easy for me.
I did that to my b16 head and I safely shift at 9k.. Not that often though because I want my engine to last more than 20k miles

I got a set of type R cams from some guy with a ITR engine wanting to put GSR cams in (he's got a turbo and ITR cams have too much overlap), so I'll need to get a set of type-R springs from the dealer. My real question was, is there a difference between type R retainers and B16 stock retainers? Also, will stock B16 retainers fit with type R cams?

i would change it allat once.. that way you dont have to take the cams and springs apart a second time if you plan to put retainers .. plus its good to upgrade it as well. i would if i were you
