Red dust inside Distributor - 90 CRX Si

Default Red dust inside Distributor - 90 CRX Si

I thought i read somewhere that this is not good, but i cant remember what exactly it said. There is red dust all inside the distributor cap basically, can anyone fill me in?

Maybe the contact points are completely worn and that the dust if from them?? Maybe water getting in and rusting something?

could be copper from the windings in the coil... not a good sign

Usually the upper bearing crapping out. If you look closer you'll probably see bits of metal on the sensors.

Yup bearing is going south.

You can change the bearing...unless you want to pay ~200 bucks(For a complete distributor)....compare to ~10$(For the bearing)

You should check for that site how to rebuilt your distributor.Just be careful with those 3 Torx bolt.You'll have to use some torch...to get them out without breaking them in the casing.
