chrome tuners in PA
i have a p28 with a chrome chip in it and i need to find a good chrome chip tuner in pennsylvania. i live pittsburg side but i can travel a couple hours if i have to so the PA side of ohio would work too. i would appreciate any help a lot
after much research i found J-K Tuning out by Harrisburg. they seem to be doing some great builds and tunes on pump gas for daily drivers. i've been mailing them back and forth. they are very knowledgeable and very helpfull so that's where i'm taking my car.
Theres a place I believe in OH. It's called Big 3 Racing (B3R). They tune my buddies 400+whp civic and my buddies 4 door z6 swap. Both great tunes and not too too exspensive. I live in Toronto,OH and i think its the closest to me

I've been to hybrid ang IMW both and suggest driving a little farther to Carlisle to see Derek and John. Hybrid is not bad but they tune on a dyno jet which only allows full throttle tuning IMW uses a dynapack which allows for more complete tuning.
Sorry to crash your thread,, I also have a chrome chip in my ecu and need a tuner on the other side of Pa,, Im in Philly and cant find any reasonably priced tuner,,, maybe im just cheap,, but it seems like everyone around here wants $400+ just for a tune!! I have a couple of friends that tell me its actually not that bad,, but in my opinion,, at $400+ for a tune,, I might as well get a Hondata S300 and do it myself... If anyone around the Philly area know of a tuner thats not costing me 2 arms and 3 legs,, please PM me or post over here,,, I really cant Stumble $400 for a tune,, especially when I paid $400 for my engine,,, lol

Hondata S300 comes with no tuning and requires a wideband, you gain no benefit with it.
$400 is the going rate..... A dyno is an expensive piece of equipment and learning proper tuning technique takes time, no one who owns a proper business is going to spend their time and money tuning a car instead of paying their bills.

Most shops use a dyno jet. It's more then enough to accomplish a reliable tune. Save your gas money OP and take it to Dennis. I can promise you that you won't be let down. He has tuned numerous cars of my friends and not a one has a single problem. They all run great.

Turbo B16 - Melted a piston twice (Watters)
Sleeved 83mm GSR - Made 370hp on a GT30R and idled at 10.5:1 (Duanne)
Turbo B16 - Blew head gasket within weeks
These problems may or may not have been related to the tune, just the track record.
Yes I do believe Dennis can do good work but has fallen off. And if the best tool for the job is available, why go with second best(dyno)?
Thanks for the input ... I've heard some good and bad about hybrid so far... Anyone else get tuning done at hybrid that they liked or disliked ..... I'm still kinda sitting on the fence
All I can say is you get what you pay for in the end.
Trying to save $100-200 may end up costing you a lot more then you think.
The most IMPORTANT part about your car is tuning! Without it, everything is worthless!
Listening to random people's opinions is pointless. Call each tuner, talk to them for your self. Talk to ACTUAL customers which have had their car tuned by them etc.
Do your research before you listen to people who are clueless.
