Look at just about any DEI alarm... http://www.directed.com/

Compustar also makes very good alarms... http://www.compustar.com/

If your on a tight budget, you may want to look at Audiovox alarms...http://audiovoxproducts.com/

Or UltraStart alarms... http://www.ultrastarters.com/

Whatever you decide, buy only from an authorized dealer, either retail. [local car audio shop] or online. 94

Stay away from junk brands like K-9. They are readily available at the local flea market. Get something reputable....DEI products to be exact.

There is only one brand of Viper alarm. I believe you are referring to different models; there are several. Get the one with the options and features you want/need. I would try to find a reputable installer to do the install job.

Viper and Python are *very* similar lines both made by DEI. Avital is more of the "entry level" which is still better than a lot of other companies products (even if it's not another company's entry level unit you're comparing it to).

The only one I've personally installed that I'd stay away from is the Audiovox Prestige 2-way unit (remote start and alarm.. I think it was the 997C or something like that). I installed one for a customer, the thing had no range within a week and the 1-way remote didn't function at all. Ordered another in, swapped it in, and the same thing happened but right away. Called Audiovox and the guy had me do all this stuff (including wiping out the remotes and re-programming from *at least* 20 feet away.. otherwise he said there's known issues). Needless to say this didn't fix anything.

Custom kept saying "I called audiovox and they said it's the install.. it's not installed correctly!" and I tried telling the kid "you know it worked for a week, and then died. The second unit "works" with the 2-way but limited in range, and the 1-way doesn't work at all. It's the audiovox piece."

Anyhow, long story shorter, ordered in a Viper (or python.. I forget now) 2-way remote start & alarm, just cutting the audiovox out one wire at a time and hooking the DEI in so all the wiring was the same, and everything worked flawlessly. I ran down the street 2.5 blocks, and it worked with a couple brick apartment buildings in between me and the truck which still happened to be inside the metal walled garage.

As mentioned, there is only 1 viper brand but many models, there are also other brands in the DEI lineup that the only diff. is the brand name/model number, EG; a Viper and a Clifford, same alarm, diff. brand and model number. 94

Say what, Car Toys did not connect the hatch???
The hatch/trunk on Honda/Acura already have a switch, trunk/hatch light and ajar, the lead is accessed at the front, [under dash] of the car, it is the lead that runs to the trunk/hatch open warning light.

It is one easy connection. 94

When you do decide on an alarm, the brain has gotta be installed all the way in the dash so the thieves don't have time to rip it out and jack your ride. The siren should also be hidden too so they don't just cut the wiring. Make sure you get a back-up battery installed so your alarm still works when they disconnect the battery. I highly recommend this if you only have liability insurance on the vehicle. Thieves are looking for easy targets.

If you're gonna get an alarm system, get it done right.

I got an Autopage 2 way alarm that I upgraded with a DEI tilt sensor, DEI glass break sensor, Mini siren along with the regular siren and battery backup. After my stealth install I'm pretty happy with it. Only future plans for it are a proximity sensor and the C-3 upgrade for gps tracking.

Installing an alarm will give you a discount on theft insurance in some states. I know it does in NY
