Default D15B7 Head resurfacing (shocker huh?)

I blew a head gasket for the second time in about 2 years so I am assuming I have a bad spot on my head. I plan on taking it into a machine shop to get it shaved down and tanked. The motor has 140k miles on it so I was thinking about having them do some work on the valves while it is off. How much more do you think it would cost? I'm not trying to make this engine anything it isn't. I know it is slow and boring, I just want it back to factory specs so I can have something that will last me another 140k. I don't want to have to pull the head again so what are some things you all would suggest while I have everything taken apart?

IMO, You should ask the shop that you are planning to take the head. See what they charge for a valve job? Call around to a few different shops, if you have more than one local shop. Prices are going to differ a little bit from shop to shop.

Valve seals would be another thing to consider while you have the head at the shop. Have them check the valves and guides as well.

I already have the place in mind, it is called C&P. One of my instructors works there and they do some good work. I don't mind spending the money now than having to later on down the road, I am curious if it would cost a little or a lot more.

its around $300 to $400 to rebuild a head. If the head is off and you have 140k on it rebuild it.

valve stem seals are $25 and not to hard to put in if you have free time on your hands. also you could mill the head .020" or .030" to bump the compression which would make a reasonable difference in power.

$50 On average to resurface the head

$150 For a legit valve job..

Plus parts should make it close to $300. That is unless "Your homie" does it for free..

nah i took mines to a machine shop b&r heads they did everything and cleaned/polished the seats it looked like new

headgasket kit from them is like 80 bucks and they use the valve seals it comes with and supply the valve guides,

im not saying your not telling the truth im just supprised it cost that much over there cause that wouldn't be economical to do it yourself at that price and still gotta buy more parts to finish the head job

That is about what they charge around here to shave the head. Looks like that will be around $30 so I am going to have them check/fix my valves, they look like they could use it. I will have to ask them to take off as much as they can just because; you know.
