Default obd1 motor in obd2 car

i have a dumb question. The car i bought has an obd1 b18c in it (head is stamped 93 and came with obd1 parts but the obd2 ones were used, including original trans) and i have a 96. which is obd2. I heard that the CEL wont come on because of this and i want to know what it takes to get that to work again.

I know that i would have to use the paper clip trick but i at least want something!

tldr: obd1 in obd2 car, how do i get CEL to work?

As far as i remember as long as the wiring, ecu, IM, injectors are OBD2 then the cel should come on if there was an issue. maybe try disconnecting a sensor like o2 and see if the CEl comes on. if not then you got a prob.

Crank sensor needed for obd2, obd1 doesnt come with that sensor. Im assuming alt. is switched over to obd2 since they r different too
