OBD2 to OBD1 conversion? Is it Possible? HELP!
Right now I have an OBD2 on my 5th gen lude (duh).. well I was wondering If I could convert it or make it think I have OBD1? because I'm soo sick of the damn CEL that turns on with those minimal almost no use sensors.. and especially I'm about to give Skunk2 IM a try.. I've been reading about them and it throws a CEL because of the EGR valve being disconnected.. on OBD1 CEL dont turn on but on OBD2 it does.. soo I was wondering if I could do OBD2 to OBD1.. I've seen and read about the different wire harnesses like OBD2 to OBD1 and OBD1 to OBD2 and what not.. Can I use those? or do those have a different purpose? alright.. I need help foreal! Thanks!
yes it is possible, however on you motor it would probably be more of a pain in the ***. you would want to get an obd1 ecu bc there is a crankshaft position sensor at the bottom which is read only on obd2 ecu's you would need to disconnect. rather you could probably leave it attached if you get an obd1 ecu since it wont read it anyway. you need to switch the injectors, dizzy, resistor box, and i think you can remove your egr valve. anyone correct me if im wrong
get an OBD conversion harness and a p28 or p72 ecu. Get the ecu chipped with an h22 basemap then go get the motor tuned.

Could someone give me a lesson on ECU types and what not.. I've tried searching and searching trying to learn about them but it seems like to me everyone just automatically knows about ECUs the way they talk about it.. What is the difference with different ECUs? some one help would be greatly appreciated! thanks a lot
