1999 Civic SI Vibration
Hello HT Just need to see what u guys opinion is on this 1...
I have a 99 Civic SI. After I hit around 70 MPH the car vibrates I feel it mainly on the steering wheel and feel it shacking it only lasts for about 10 seconds, then it goes away. It comes again when I move the steering wheel mainly to the right ( Keep in mind this is at speeds over 65-70 MPH only). If car is going staright vibration will not happend. I mainly feel it to the left side. I checked all bolts are tight. Axles is perfect. Ball joints are still good. LCA and Tie Rod are perfect. I called Honda they said it is most likely Balancing issues. I am going to take wheels to get balanced. DO any of you have any other opinions.

This same prob happened with my friends X5. Turned out his brake caliber was sticking. Sometimes it shook somtimes it didnt. Mainly when he turned or slowed down. Just a thought if it isnt the tires. You might have a bubble in your tire.
One other, which has happen to me(rare) but I had a wheel bearing just start making very slight noise, and started making a vibration in the steering wheel @ 60 mph. Changed out the RF wheel bearing. Night and day difference, noise gone/no vibration.
Another diagnostic help would be to check out TSB's (technical service bulletin) on a 99' Civic SI. These TSB's will cover many common problems(chassis/suspension/electrical/engine/drivetrain/etc. Honda had for that year civic. Honda dealers can get you this info..If the service manager is nice. Done this before.
