Steering wheel shaking at 70 mph and over
Hi all. I just replaced the CV Axles, inner and outer tie rods, front wheel bearings, brake pads and rotors on my 99 Civic VP. I took it to the local Goodyear for an alignment and had the Mechanic check over my work to see if everything was good and tight. He said everything looked nice and tight. The steering wheel will shake at 70mph and over but funny thing is that it isn't a constant shake, sometimes it goes away for 20 to 30 secs and then comes back. Advice on what to do?

If your rotation doesn't change anything, I'll be keeping an eye on this thread.
I've had a wobble since I've owned my hatchback which hasn't changed with 4 sets of tires, 3 sets of rims, 2 new axles. My next steps is new upper control arms, new wheel bearings, new lower ball joints, all new bushings, and new inner and outer tie rods. At some point I hope to get rid of the wobble. Besides, the car really could use a whole new front end as it's all 20 years old.

Eh, I get where you're coming from, but that's not the case. "Wobble" is generally a loose feeling in the steering components, sometimes with forced input (bump steer), and is generally caused by a poor alignment or failing suspension components (primarily rubber parts). Shaking is a feeling in the steering wheel or body of the car, never with forced input, and is generally caused by bad balance, or improperly worn tread.
It might seem like semantics, but diagnostically, the difference is very important.

Re: Steering wheel shaking at 70 mph and over
I'm very interested to see what the issue is. I am having a "wobble" issue with my civic as well.
I'm assuming that I need to replace my axel, but I bought the car and the power steering was no connected. I think I might have multiple issues. I need to understand what affects the steering and what doesn't.
