removing axle need help!!
me and my dad r trying to remove the axle ubt can't, we've tryed everything, torque wrech, long socket driver, the thing wont budge!!!! do u guys have ne suggestion on how to remove the bolt that holds the axle?????????
try some good old PB (Parts Buster) you can pick it up at ANY auto store blast some of it on there and let it soak for a minute or two, then give it hell. IT also help to sometimes use a breaker bar. We used plenty of PB when doing my coilovers
are you talking about the hub nut on the outside of the wheel, first make sure that you look closely at it and bend out the metal where it's pressed in. I broke one socket because of that. Second what we did is get a 5 foot pipe and a breaker bar, I had to actually sit and apply the brakes because we caused so much torque the wheel was picking up and spinning. It did finally come off though.
I went and bought a 6-7 foot pipe from home depot that fitted over my socket, then hung on that thing and jumped on it a good five minutes until it finally broke loose
Best and easiest way to do it: Take off the hubcap/center cap, grab the 32mm socket put the car back on the ground stick the 32mm socket on the hub nut(make sure the bolt is unstaked) grab about a 3ft breaker bar and go at it. This way the tire and weight of the car keeps the wheel from spinning. Ive never not gotten one off this way. Good luck!!
The axle nut is a PITA....basically using a steel pipe works the best....when I was taking the tranny outta my friends si (wrecked) we didnt have any air tools(which is best) and the car was behind a barn and had kinda sank into the ground a lil...so the wheel wasnt going anywhere......we grabbed a steel pole had to be 10 feet long.....used a 2 foot breaker bar.....I dont even think we put any effort into it....put the pipe over the breaker bar got in front of it and me and my large friend (hes big) just pushed on it till the lil ****** just popped off prob. took 2 min. and this had been sitting for like 5 months.....it was pretty rusty.
Now my other friend had problems with this though like hell when He was pulling his si motor out....he had to use heat and his wheel was off the ground so eventually they just practicaly melted the alxe nut and splines off...]
The best thing to do though is if you live by a shop or know a friend who does.....take it in....have them pop them off with a impact gun.....I work at a shop and we have the best impact guns iver ever used....one day I was doing an oil change and while the oil was draining...I grabbed a gun....the socket and put it on the nut while it was in the air...the ****** popped off in like 1 min. with a couple good pops.....

take a breaker bar put it over the handle of the wrench ,put the socket on the nut,now make sure its onther square ,lay the the the bar thats on your wrench toward the front of the car ,start the car and pull foward
let the motor do the work

or just do what I did..... get a 32mm socket and breaker bar. slap it on there. I had my brother hold the socket in place with the end of the bar touching the ground. I then proceeded to drive the car slowly but slightly forward and the momentum of the car's weight broke the nut loose. Just drove the opposite way in the driveway to do the otherside. was done in under a minute!!
