You should consider obtaining a good service manual for your car and do some reading before you screw it up or create an unsafe condition for yourself and others.

A torque wrench is a precision instrument and should not be used to loosen stubborn fasteners.

You need to loosen the lip of the nut with a screwdriver so it is able to turn first. Then buy yourself a socket for the axle(32mm), then go to harbor freight and pick up a 1/2" breaker bar for 9.99. Loosen the nut with the tire still on the ground.

try a little WD40
let it sit for 30 mins.
Get a jackstand, and put it in front of the hub at the same height of the nut.
You should be using 1/2 inch size tools on this.
Use your breaker bar, small extension, and a small sturdy section of pipe. (using the pipe as a lever.)
The longer the lever the less force you should have to use.
Get someone who weighs something more if you are 150lbs or less, and have them push/pull on it.
Lastly you can try to stand on it to see if it breaks torque... but stand towards the end of the lever.

Find an online service manual for your model specific year.
Google it ....there are plenty of online free downloadable manuals in pdf form.
Save it to your computer and you are golden!

did you unstake the nut? as someone said earlier, take the center cap off the wheel and loosen the nut while the car is on the ground.

Look at the axle nut there SHOULD be a spot that was hammered in.
You gotta unbend that piece.

Than get a 32 mm socket i preffer a short socket with no extensions.

Get the longest breaker bar 1/2 you can get. If you have to get a pipe on that thing and have your BIGGEST friend bust it loose. im 280lbs so im always the one getting these damn calls.

Good luck.

MAKE SURE THE CAR IS ON THE GROUND AND HAVE A BUDDY PRESS THE BRAKE PEDAL WITH THE ENGINE ON SO THE BRAKES WILL BE OPERATING TO THEYRE FULL POTENTIAL

I had to take off the whole hub and knuckle along with the axle and heat up the nut until it was bright hot and then remove it with a 32MM nut using an impact wrench. Although, I am doing a wheel bearing replacing as well as a new axle so I didn't care too much.

Hi there. So i did what everyone said unbend the axle nut and i did. but it still not working. So if i were to use a torch how long would i need to hold it? and if it still stubborn and i were to bring it to a shop would it be okay? or it would break the cv axle since i torch it?

torching it for a short time wont hurt it. just dont turn up the heat as if you were trying to cut. keep the flame sort of big, no blue cone needed.

also keep applying pb blaster or wd40.

also are you sure your turning the correct way? just a thought

you could try tighting and loosing it, sometimes it helps crack those tough nuts loose

put some pb blaster on that and put a torch to that nut and use a good impact and borrow the actual axle nut socket should pop right off there

After snapping a craftsmen breaker bar I just did this. Take it to a shop and have them use an air gun to take it off, then have them put it back on. Took 10 mins and I gave the guy 10$, when I got home I had zero issues.

3/4 drive socket and a breaker bar and a piece of pipe will normally remove it if you don't have access to a good impact gun.

Just did my axle. Here is what I did to remove. Bought a breaker bar and got a long pipe from home depot. Sprayed the nut with some on pb blaster. Smoked a cigg. Put 32 socket on, breaker bar, pipe on breaker bar and put weight on the pipe by stepping on it. It came loose lil by lil. U will hear it creak then it becames free! Good luck.

you need to make sure the axle is pushed in all the way. I didn't push in my axle all the way and it popped out within 10 miles leaving me stranded.

you need to make sure your axle is pushed it ALL the way.

My method is

insert axle in transmission as far as your strength can go.
I use a Brass Hammer and give it some good wacks on the hub side of the axle.
Be careful not to hit the SPLINES even though its brass it may still hurt the splines.

You will know when the axle is in all the way in. You wont see the Input shaft and the cv joint housing will almost be flush the the transmission case.
When you think it is in all the way grab the cv joint housing and give it a good YANK. it shouldnt pop out.

DO NOT PULL ON THE AXLE you can seperate the joints inside and isnt fun getting it back together.
