why is my motor knocking???????????????
ok i dont get it i got a 2000 civic ex with a gsr obd2b swap i ran it for a year befor it starting to burn oil. So i pulled the motor and had new oil water timing belt all of them were oem. And oem pr3 pistons put on my stock gsr rods with new oem wrist pins. Then i had new acl bearings put in and i had my motor board and honed to 81.25 mm sence i got oem 81.25 mm pr3 pistons and 81.25 mm oem rings. Also had my crank micro polished and balanced too. i had the blocked decked to be sure i had the head would be perfected. Now for the head i had a 3 angle valve job the valve seats done and had the head milled too and both the head and block were hot tanked. For valves i had standerd super tech flat face valves and new supertech dual valves springs and retainers put in it. Now when i put it all together with arp head studs and oem head gasket with new weapon r headers and skunk 2 intake manifold and act stage 4 6 pluk clutch i ajusted the valves and fired the engine and my motor knocked it only ran for like maybe 3 mins. So i pulled it and sent it back to the machine shop they over looked it and everything was fine no scares or bad bearings valves were good no piston slap nothing. Got it back put it back in and it still knocked from the buttom end so i called them they came down and heard it for them selfs . they were lost so they told my to put about 50 miles on it so i did and pulled it again and took it back to them and this time they went threw it all plastic gaged the crank check all clearance check wrist pins everything i mean everything and it was all good. but i havnt got it back yet i was wondering if anyone has had this type of problem before like this if so can anyone help me out.
First of all...God damn man!! Use some punctuation. It makes it a lot easier for us to help you when we can read what you posted.
I would take that engine elsewhere. The simple fact that this machine shop is using plastigauge to assemble your engine is scary. I thought professionals used precision tools.

dude, plain and simple you should CLEARLY know that it was obviously not put together right. and if what you say is correct about whomever did this work... i would honestly just do it myself, Good Lord the Haynes manuel will give you better advice than that haha.
Find out what THEY say the rod and main clearances are measuring. Then take it to another machine shop and verify what they said. Sounds like maybe some improper assembly occurred...
Motors knocking and they tell you to drive 50 miles?!?! I would not ever go near them again if it were me...

Never argue with a moron, they will only drag you down to their level and beat you with experience

/my input.
OP, you asked for help and now your arguing with everyone in the thread. EVERY engine assembly process should at least consist of mic'ing the pistons. Go cry somewhere else your annoying and dumb.
ok, that's enough, your shop definitely sucks
