95 del sol w/ distributor problems
i have 95 sol w/ D16Y8 drove it 4 months a young boy down the road loves hondas so i let him hang around & watch me do stuff i did a tune up & went 2 start the car,she fired right up but 4 some reason the kid said it looked like the plug wire wasnt all the way on so he pulls the number 1 plug while motor is running it quit so i buy a new dizzy & it only has 1 plug but the sol has 2 plugs is there an adapter 4 this situation? please any body knows hit me back
96-99 D16Y8 but the 95 sol didnt come w/ y8 motor it was n the car when i bought it i was selling car to the boy he toke it home i told him not 2 mess with it so what does he do he tryed a dx obd0 dizzy then another 1 that didnt line up so i bought the car back made at the boy 4 not listening cause ive fix that kind of problem b4 so i bought a brand new dizzy not thinking Y8's r odb2 but it dont matter it just dont have 2 connecters just 1 the car has 2 dizzy 1 same number of wires ur basic bl&yellow -blue then 7 other wires the black&yellow r power -blue is rpm & the rest go 2 verious sensers n the dizzy
The seven other wires are for the three sensors (two wires each) and one for the ICM.
You should open the previously working distributor and do some diagnostics rather than simply replacing it. It's probably just a cooked ICM or coil. IMO, the only time you should replace the distributor is if it's physically damaged, or one of the three sensors is bad. You can use a multimeter to test the sensors without taking anything apart. You have to take the cap, rotor, and dust cover off to test the coil and ICM. The coil is easiest to test, but it's probably the ICM that's bad.
